I am a person of action and will always put my whole being into achieving, whether for the benefit of one or the masses, for a child, a differently abled or elderly person; I don’t discriminate against anyone. I believe that if we stand united for Montserrat as citizens, residents, the diaspora and well-wishers – at home and abroad, we can positively transform the lives of all and witness a rejuvenated and prosperous Montserrat.
Prominent daughter Anne Elizabeth Buffonge-Thomas has announced her bid for political office in Montserrat with the United Alliance.
Passion for Montserrat's Future Fuels my Political Aspirations Having been inspired by respected leader Reuben Meade of the United Alliance Party, I'm pursuing a political career to carry on his mission of caring for people and developing our island home. His decisiveness and action-centered leadership demonstrate's the party's capability to create positive change. I'm convinced the United Alliance provides the best option to achieve a bright future for Montserrat.
With her background growing up in Cork Hill Village, Mrs. Buffonge-Thomas is devoted to creating opportunities and jobs for Montserratians across the island.
Community service is something I have been doing since I could walk and talk. I’m excellent at finding ways to assist people with varying problems and needs with my knack for innovativeness, initiative, and creativity.At a young age, I was assigned to sleep in with an elderly lady and assist her with small tasks. I was not daunted to do what others would turn up their noses at. I also ran errands for the elderly as required. During my Technical College days, I was part of the Partners of the Americas Programme, - a NY (Oswego/Montserrat) exchange programme which also carried an element of community work.I joined the Montserrat Red Cross In the late 90’s carrying out administrative tasks for an extended period. Of course, the element of community work comes with being in the Red Cross – being there to assist persons in many spheres. Following, I led a Red Cross sponsored project “HIV/AIDS Peer Educators Programme” – 166 youth over 2 years, got weekend long intensive training in the ABCs etc.I took on the Presidency of the First Aiders group, I assist with the Restoring Family Links initiative at the Red Cross. I was the President of the Montserrat Red Cross Executive Board. After a break for educational purposes, I came back in the role of Treasurer of the Executive Board.
