Born under Montserrat's sun, I strode through Plymouth and St Augustine's halls before sailing to loftier spires in Barbados and Jamaica. I grasped the sciences of life and death, emerging a healer of urgent afflictions. Now I walk between worlds - in the UK an A&E guardian angel by flexible contract, while on Montserrat I welcome all to my private practice, making space for visiting physicians. My roots and wings span the region - a daughter of the islands returned to nurture her homeland.

I was elected into Political Office in 2014 and spent the following 5 years as a member of Parliament where I championed in particular a push for improvements in Health care. I am a bold advocate for good healthcare and social equality.

I am the proud mother of 4 children – Isis, Osiris, Joshua and Ocean. In my spare time I enjoy having fun with my children, swimming, hiking and running. My very caring and supportive parents Catherine Buffonge and Edward Buffonge live on Montserrat. Edward known mostly as Eddie has worked as an auto-mechanic, heavy equipment owner and operator, business owner and manager and land lord. Catherine, referred to over the years as Nurse Katie, studied Nursing in the United Kingdom and migrated to Montserrat in the early 1960s after spending time on Montserrat as a volunteer. Catherine then followed this with a 50 year career as a dedicated nurse and health promotor on Montserrat.

Renowned physician politician

Dr Ingrid Buffonge is a highly accomplished physician and politician dedicated to improving healthcare and achieving social equality in her home country of Montserrat. She served multiple terms as Minister of Health and Social Services where she led reforms expanding access to care and oversaw the rebuilding of medical infrastructure following volcanic eruptions. An exceptional diagnostician and compassionate doctor, Dr. Buffonge continues seeing patients while advocating politically for universal health coverage and vulnerable communities.

Medical career

In addition to her political accomplishments, Dr. Buffonge has an outstanding record as a physician. She completed her medical training at the University of the West Indies and went on to become an expert in internal medicine and cardiology. Praised for her strong diagnostic skills and whole-patient care, Dr. Buffonge introduced innovative treatment protocols that improved outcomes for numerous conditions.

A champion of equality and human rights, Dr. Buffonge continues to advocate for expanded healthcare access, support services for vulnerable groups, and economic reforms to reduce poverty in Montserrat. Her decades of work on critical social issues has improved life for countless people.
